As current President and CEO of North Shore Risk Consulting, LLC, Michael has thirty-five years COO level experience in risk management, including workers’ compensation; property and casualty liability; corporate safety programs; FELA; auto no fault; health benefit and medical services; system application assessments/development; claim file financial and operational audits; OCIP and CCIP. Previous experience has included Senior Director Risk Management Pan American World Airways; Director Workers’ Compensation/No Fault New York City MTA; President, Public Transportation Services Corporation Risk Management Authority – LA, California; and Solutions Manager Professional Services Division, Information Builders Inc.

His responsibilities have included consulting with insurance carriers, TPA’s, and self insurers executives and management on marketing, safety, claims processing, investigations, and auditing departments to evaluate and develop programs for operational efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance standards. Michael has performed client trend development analysis for revenue growth driven programs and has developed business goals and organizational requirements for policy/procedure compliance and financial soundness.

Michael is a frequent presenter at regional and national risk management associated workshops and conferences and has served two terms as President of the New York Claim Association, currently serving on the Board of Directors.

Mr. Lynch has a long and varied career in insurance starting in 1971 when he was hired as a Field Claims Representative by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. During his almost 40 years of continuous work experience, he has performed in positions of increasing responsibility for Commercial insurance organizations (Liberty Mutual and Fireman’s Fund) as well as for self-insured entities (Long Island Rail Road and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority). During this period, he was responsible for all lines of P&C insurance as a Claims Manager and as a Risk Manager. A firm believer in being a student of the business as well as a practitioner, he earned several degrees and professional designations during this period, including the rare RIMS Fellow designation certified and awarded by the Global Risk Management Institute.

In 2004 until 2010, he use his extensive subject matter expertise in assisting self-insured entities in developing and employing Risk Management Information Systems to measure results and improve organizational performance in risk mitigation and financing. This extended to commercial insurance companies in his last job where he assisted clients in implementing Business Intelligence platforms and executive dashboards. In June 2010, he founded, along with Michael Koss, the North Shore Risk Consulting firm, located in Melville NY.

He also served 30 years in the military in active and reserve duty positions. He retired in 1998 at the rank of full colonel, after holding many command and operational positions. He is a graduate of the Army War College in Carlisle, PA. He currently lives in Mount Sinai, NY with his wife Mary.

Steve Beigbeder
Steve Beigbeder, Principal

Steve Beigbeder is a consultant specializing in workers’ compensation, absence and disability management. He has over nineteen years experience consulting to Fortune 500, multi-national and large public entities. Steve recently retired from Deloitte Consulting LLP after joining the firm in 1996 as the National Practice Leader for Disability Management Services. Prior to joining Deloitte, Steve spent three years as a managing consultant for Travelers Insurance and two years as a project manager for Lynch Ryan, a boutique workers’ compensation consulting firm headquartered in Massachusetts. Before embarking on a consulting career Steve spent six years as a corporate Human Resource Director for a regional hospitality business chain with six restaurants and two hotels.

Serving the public and private sectors, in employer, payer and provider settings, Steve has extensive experience in leading client engagements to control disability costs, enhance benefit delivery systems and improve claim outcomes.

Steve has lectured extensively to employer groups and written numerous articles on best practices for managing disability. He’s been published in Business Insurance, Employee Benefits News, Workers Compensation Managed Care, Risk & Insurance, the Journal of Workers’ Compensation and Controller magazines. He has been a featured speaker at several RIMS’ national conferences, the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference, Public Risk & Insurance Management Association and NY Self-Insurers’ Association seminars, and national conferences sponsored by the World Research Group and the Institute of International Research.

Steve holds a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and Human Resource Management certification from Bentley University. Steve served nine years as a member of the Board of Directors for the NY Claims Association, was a 2-year member of the Advisory Board for Business Insurance’s National Disability Management Conference, and was an 11-year Member of a municipal Personnel Board responsible for labor relations, benefit plan design and funding, and human resource management. Steve consults primarily to large, self-insured employers and counts many recognizable organizations among his serviced clients.

Throughout Steve’s nineteen plus years in workers’ compensation and disability claims consulting he has provided program assessment, strategic counseling, best practice research, information system selection and implementation, and cost containment program development to Fortune 500 and large governmental entities.
